Idaho Student AI Challenge
Published on November 6, 2026
The Idaho Student AI Challenge is open, and the first 50 fully completed and valid projects submitted will each be awarded a gift card of no less than $100. This challenge is run by the Idaho Department of Education through partnerships with Playlab and the Idaho Workforce Development Council.
The Idaho Student AI Challenge asks students to find a problem in their school or community and propose an AI tool to address it. They don’t have to build a working app, and they can use whatever AI platform they already have. Teams can be made of up to 5 students. Student can also work alone to complete their projects. Elementary through high school students are eligible to apply and are required to have a teacher or advisor as their team leader.
Every team that submits their project by November 30 will get written feedback from Idaho industry reviewers in early December. Selected teams will be asked to present at the Idaho State Capitol during the legislative session in January.
